Pregnancy Week 35: Urge to Nest

Baby girl is still sitting around 19-22 inches long and weighs about 5.5 pounds. She won't get much taller from here on out; the remaining weeks are more about gaining weight. The app says this is the size of a canary melon. She doesn't look like she dropped any lower to me, but boy howdy does my bladder think she did. Baby girl is working on brain growth this week as well. Time to get those tiny neurons and synapses communicating!

There is still so much more I need to buy for little miss and the urge to nest is overwhelming. Hopefully once the remaining must-haves arrive, I will be able to get everything set up to my liking. Her nursery is actually almost ready. There is just a bunch of little projects that need to be done, but the perfectionist in me wants to do them all holy heck right now. Or maybe it is the hormones...could be a combination of both haha.

My mother in law made me this awesome pillow thingamabob that has a hole in the middle so I can sleep on my stomach comfortably. They actually sell this kind of pillow premade, but none of the stores in our area sell them, so she made one for me as a birthday gift (my birthday is in two days, what?).

I used to sleep on my stomach prior to getting pregnant and I'm really uncomfortable in any other position, so this pillow has been awesome. Now if I could stop waking up every hour to use the bathroom I may actually be able to get some sleep.

Also, the next person who says this sleeplessness is good practice for when the baby comes is getting a boot to the face. I am well aware I will be getting little to no sleep in the near future. That does not mean I want to do so now. You cannot practice sleep deprivation; there is no such thing as being "good" at it.

(Momma needs a nap, can you tell?)

I'm starting to alternate between being excited to meet my little miss and being absolutely terrified of the getting her out process. Oh labor, why must you be so laborious? Why can't there be a Nap and Delivery center? You know, where it is still a natural childbirth, but one where I get to take naps and feel no pain :D Someone needs to get to work on that idea right away.

Oh, and I made a new discovery last night. I can still fit into my normal jeans. What. The. Heck. Granted, they were my bloat jeans, but still. Freaky.

Update: My mom decided baby girl needed a face.

Pregnancy Week 34: Baby Shower!

This week baby girl is anywhere from 19-22 inches long and weighs approximately 4.9 pounds. However, I had an ultrasound on Saturday and they recorded her estimated weight. Baby girl is approximately 4.7 pounds with a margin of +/- 0.68 pounds. So at least we know the app is fairly accurate in this regard. The app says this week baby girl is about the size of a pineapple.

I had my baby shower on Saturday and little miss got a lot of super cute clothes :) She also got things she needs of course, but baby girl clothes are the cutest thing ever. Here are some pictures from the party.

Belly shot
Laughing belly shot.
Farther away belly shot. Everyone always wants to see the belly haha.
Note the pink boot socks. It took forever to find pink ones.
Delicious cupcakes. Nom nom nom.
It is blurry, but I am holding a tiny baby. Some of the cupcakes had mini babies.
If you find one you will have good luck for a year. I found 3.
Either I will be very lucky or I ate a metric ton of cupcakes >_>
My brother in law got the hubs and I some wine for after the baby arrives.
Solid gift; everyone should take note.
Dad got me some flowers :)
We played a lot of games. The funniest ones were the pregnancy waddle and guess the belly size. The preggo waddle goes like so: each player has to blow up a ballon, stick it under their shirt, put a quarter between their knees, waddle it down to a jar/cup/whatever, and drop it in. Pretty freaking hysterical.

The guess the belly size game calls for each player to cut a length of yarn that they think represents how wide around I am (the only time in life in which this activity will not result in immediate death of the guesser haha). One person was dead on and another was incredibly close (only off by about 1/4 of an inch). Everyone else was hilariously off. Nobody underguessed, and most were off by about a handspan or so. However, a few were off  by a foot and a half. Kind of hilarious.

We also played preggo bingo (bingo with baby gifts for the squares rather than numbers), guess the baby food flavor, guess how many pacifier candies are in the giant baby bottle (my 5yo cousin won that game; figured a child would win the candy haha), and then the clothespin game. At the start of the party, each guest is given a clothespin and told they can no longer say the word "baby." If they do and someone hears it, they have to forfeit their pins. Whoever has the most pins at the end of the party wins.

We played the bingo game while I was opening my gifts. If the gift I opened was on the player's bingo card, they marked it with a sticker. My grandmother won that game. Here are some of the gifts baby girl got :) I didn't get pictures of them all yet, but here are a few I took once we got them all home.

This is a laundry tote jam packed with a ton of awesome baby gifts :)
This is a gloriously soft blankie.
This is the diaper baby that came with the blankie.
There are also two outfits (bun bun footie pj's!), a pacifier and some other neat gifts for baby girl.
Plus the storage basket they came in (I love me some storage).
My MOH made this blanket. It has cute little sheep all over it.
It is flame retardant. In case of flaming baby, apply sheep blanket ;)
But seriously, look at all that intricate stitching!

The rocking chair on the left is from when I was a little girl.
It was always white, but dad was so convinced I was having a girl
that at about 12 weeks he painted every other spoke pink.
The mini-rocker on the right was made by hand and has a matching paint job
courtesy of my dad :)
Little booties and some receiving blankets :)
A mix of some of the outfits baby girl received. So cute :)
Here are all the gifts lined up in a row! Some others were mailed to me as well.
Baby girl got a ton of gifts and some super cute outfits. I love baby girl clothes ^_^

Of course, baby girl wasn't content to just receive gifts. She felt the need to get a little feisty and we ended up spending the night in labor and delivery. I received some tocolytic medicine and, after a night of observation, I was released. Baby girl's heart rate looked great through it all :) Now I'm on modified bed rest, but otherwise everything is good. Six weeks to go!

Pregnancy Week 33: Maternity Photos and Baby Shower Location

This week baby girl is still approximately 19 inches long, but she is now about 4.5 pounds. The app claims this is the size of a honeydew melon. I have given up on understanding this app's food-to-baby comparisons.

I also got a new app that does the side by side pictures for me automatically.

I put a baby shower location update in the last post, but I figured I would include it in this post as well.

We now have the location set. If you have not already done so, please RSVP so we can get an accurate head count.

Invites were sent out over Facebook. To access your events, log in to Facebook and look on the left side of the screen. You should see a mini version of your profile picture and a list: Newsfeed, Messages, Ads Manager, Events, and so on. Click on events and find "Baby Shower for Samantha." From here, you can RSVP :) Shoot me a message on Facebook if you can't access the event for any reason.

Maternity Photos

Maternity photos are here! I love me a baby bump <3 These are my sneak peek photos :) I should have access to my gallery soon, so new pictures will likely be posted shortly. I am so excited :D

Thanks so much to Savanna for taking these photos for me! Be sure to check her out on Facebook and her website.

Love me a bump.

So much love.

The two where I am looking at the bump are my favorites :)

You may notice the bump looks much bigger in these pics than my weekly progress pics. We had to try hard to make that happen. I drank a bunch of water right before I arrived and then I pushed her out as far as I could make her go hehehe.

And I have another maternity shoot in a couple of weeks! I am so excited :D I am the worst about taking pictures usually, so I am super pumped to be able to capture so much of this pregnancy.

Update: More pictures ahhhhh :DDDD There are even more on Facebook.

I love candid shots :)

Hahaha such a Sam face.

I love all the ones of me looking at baby girl :) Actually, I just love all of them :D
Candids are the best.

I love this house. So pretty.

More candid goodness :)
