Pregnancy Week 22: Baby Kicks and Braxton Hicks (and Registries!)

So at some point last week I started having what I thought were either Braxon hicks contractions or baby girl doing some serious gymnastics. At first I thought it was baby girl curling up into a ball, but now I'm thinking it's Braxton hicks. I have a doctor's appointment on Tuesday. I'll find out for certain then. Not that is really matters much one way or the other since they're basically just practice contractions.

Baby girl has gotten super active lately! She's most active around 9:00-9:30 and likes to kick the same spot. She will also kick on long car rides as she does not like the seat belt (or so I assume since she kicks along the lap strap of the seat belt). This week she is roughly 8 inches long and weighs about a pound. She is roughly the size of a spaghetti squash and she can differentiate between light and dark.

And now for the pics...

This is starting to get a little ridiculous. And by a little, I mean a lot.

Basically, I go to bed with a little bump and wake up with a whole lot of flat belly. For some reason it looks more like a bump when I'm wearing normal shirts than in my sports bra.

The registry is still a work in progress, so check back often for updates. I'm also taking input on what is a necessity, what is nice to have, and what is stuff I will never use.

We are registered at Babies "R" Us (#54941451) and Burlington Baby Depot (#34080180). They can be found by searching for either my or Josh's name.

Pregnancy Week 21: Belly Belly Oxen Free

UPDATE: Where in the heck did my bump go? I woke up this morning and it was gone :(
21 Weeks

21 Weeks 1 Day

Anyone else experience a disappearing bump? Oh well, it will come and stay put eventually.

---

The belly has finally arrived. Sort of. Mostly, I feel like I look like a sausage. This week, baby girl is roughly the size of a large banana and is supposed to weigh around 11 ounces. However, at my anatomy ultrasound last Wednesday, she weighed 12 ounces.

Baby girl also started moving around like crazy the other night. I've tried orange juice and other sugary things to get her to move around for me, but none of it worked...until I took a sip of soda. I've never been a big soda drinker (as an adult anyway), so I haven't had any since well before I even got pregnant (I actually can't remember the last time I had soda haha). Apparently that sip is all it took because she kicked me about 6 times in a 10 minute window :) I haven't felt her since though.

I decided to commemorate the moment with a joker meme, because that is appropriate.

The anatomy ultrasound was underwhelming. The tech wouldn't tell me anything she was doing. I kept having to ask her over and over to tell me what she was looking at, is everything looking good, etc. She finally did assure me all the organs are accounted for and look good. Oh, and baby girl is still a girl and didn't pull a switcheroo on us haha. Otherwise, I didn't get much new info.

I am also working on my registry. I don't want to post where or any links yet until I have finished them (I am removing some things, changing others, etc). I'll make a separate post for when they are done.

My back is killing me these days. The sciatica pain is unreal. I mentioned at my last prenatal appointment that I can't get out of a sitting position on my own some nights, so they are looking into options for me. Physical therapy didn't do anything for me, nor did seeing a chiropractor so hopefully there is another option out there. Fingers crossed.

Pregnancy Week 20: Baby Movement, Nursery, and Progress Pictures

We are half way baby! 20 weeks down aaaaaaaaand I still look like I just ate a chalupa rather than being pregnant.

20 Weeks

This week baby girl is about the size of a mango. She is about 6.5 inches long and weighs approximately 10 ounces :)

However, my biggest news is I felt her move! I got a solid poke in my lower left stomach. Let me tell you, it is the craziest most awesome thing to feel a poke from your baby.

Here was my reaction:

I also finished hanging up our personal pictures. We still have some wall art that we need to figure out what to do with, but some of it just doesn't go with this house. Our walls are a pale yellow instead of white like usual, so some paintings clash badly. Oh well, it's to be expected when living in rentals.

They appear to be leaning, but that is my inability to take a picture straight on. Also, TV reflection woooo.
I also bought some art for baby girl's nursery :D I saw this painting when I went out shopping with a fellow preggo friend and absolutely loved it, but I didn't want to make an impulse buy and lock myself in to a color scheme yet.

I couldn't let it go though, it nested in my brain and rooted around for awhile. I decided if it was staying on my mind like this, I should probably get it (because that is logical, yup). A different friend came to visit for the weekend and went with me to look at it and confirmed my suspicions: I obviously needed this painting for the nursery haha.

Look at this gloriousness.
My anatomy ultrasound is Wednesday (they also check organs and such), so I will likely have more updates and (hopefully) ultrasound pictures then!

Pregnancy Week 19: House Updates and Progress Pictures

Before I get too involved in house updates, here is a baby update!

Baby girl is now about the size of a mango, is roughly 6 inches long, and weighs a half a pound! My back pain suddenly dialed up ten notches or so in the last couple of days. Apparently the baby's weight jump from 5 ounces to 8 ounces was extreme to my sciatica. Oh well, grow baby grow :) Here are my progress pictures (by the way, just in case someone hasn't figured it out yet, you can click the pictures to see a bigger version):

Welcome to Bloatville. Population: me. I flipped the bottom one around so that the side by side comparisons face in the same direction (just in case anyone noticed the reversal of objects in the reflection).

There isn't much else to report baby-wise. I have the anatomy ultrasound on the 15th, so I'll have a lot more to talk about then and probably new ultrasound pictures :) I'm still not feeling any movement (other than that one time two weeks ago), but I'm not surprised. The joys of an anterior placenta.

Now on to the house!

After a frantic week of house shopping and unpacking, we are almost there. The only major thing left on my to do list is finish hanging up the pictures. Josh put together the guest bed, the TV stand, and a bookshelf. But ignore all his hard work (), and pay attention to my glorious construction skills: I put together the new computer table. Oh yeah, look at my awesomeness.

Here was Nona's contribution to unpacking:
And by contribution, I mean caving in boxes with her butt.
Here is the rest of the house:
My glorious books. Plus, new half sized bookshelf :D
I love that decorative "B"
This picture is a lot darker than the others as it was taken at night
Also taken at night. Office area. Another project on my to do list is organizing/hiding all the computer wires.

We did manage to get one picture hung on the wall in the living room.

Oh look, it's Debra from Everybody Loves Raymond

The guest bed skirt mysteriously vanished in the move. Oh well, if that is all we lost in the move I'll be happy.

New bed frame! I figured our guests were getting tired of the pretty, pretty princess canopy bed.

Master bedroom!

Pictures are hung up here :) Also, see that round ottoman in the corner? It neatly organizes 10 pairs of shoes and one pair of boots. Be amazed.

The dining area feels oddly barren now that all of the boxes are gone.

Not much is different here, just our own appliances now.

Nona greatly enjoys these windows.
We are probably about 95% done with the unpacking. It took us a week, but we did it :D
